Fast bowler Mohammed Shami made his ODI return after a year during the first ODI of the series between India and England in Nagpur. The 34-year-old pacer bowled a fantastic delivery to shatter the stumps of Brydon Carse as the batter looked to smash him out of the park.
Shami bowled a length delivery on off stump which seamed in after pitching. Carse saw an opportunity and slashed across the line in an attempt to smash the ball out of the ground. However, he didn't connect and missed the ball completely.
The ball went on straight to hit the stumps as England's position deteriorated further. Carse had no clue about the ball and was bowled for just 10 off 18 balls. It was Mohammed Shami's first ODI wicket in more than a year.

It was Mohammed Shami's first ODI wicket since the World Cup 2023 where he picked up 24 wickets in 7 matches at an average of 10.70 with a record 3 five-wicket hauls.
The 34-year-old quick was playing his first game in a long time and it turned out to be a decent outing. Shami finished this match with figures of 1-38 in 8 overs.
Good comeback from Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami was good with the new ball on a pitch that wasn't offering much to the seamers early on. England's openers went against him initially but Shami was calm enough to bowl on a good line and length.
Mohammed Shami used his experience to good effect and it was a good sign for India ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025 where he will be one of India's trump cards.
With suspense around Jasprit Bumrah's availability, India will rely upon Mohammed Shami to provide them crucial breakthroughs. The fast bowler has an excellent ODI record which augurs well for him.
England openers start well but Indian bowlers come back
England started the game well as their openers gave them a flying start. However, the run-out of Phil Salt broke the momentum. Harshit Rana struck two blows to further daunt England but Joe Root and Jos Buttler put together a good partnership.
England lost Joe Root but Jacob Bethell played a good hand after coming at No. 6. Both Buttler and Bethell stitched together a partnership of 59 runs.
But Axar Patel removed Jos Buttler for a well-made 52 to bring India back into the game. The visitors were unable to stitch any substantial partnership afterwards and were finally dismissed for a below par 248 in 47.4 overs.
Buttler top-scored for England with 52 while Bethell struck 51 off 64 balls. For India, Ravindra Jadeja and Harshit Rana picked up three wickets each while Mohammed Shami, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav picked up a solitary wicket apiece.
