India pacer Mohammed Shami finally got rewarded for his brilliant bowling in the first session with a wicket in the second against England in the ongoing first Test in Nottingham. Mohammed Shami got rid of England opener Dom Sibley in the third over after lunch as KL Rahul took a smart catch at short mid-wicket. The hosts lost their third wicket as a result of that.

The dismissal occurred in the 28th over when Dom Sibley looked to work one on the leg side; however, he could not keep it down. The ball spooned in the air and KL Rahul, stationed at the mid-wicket, did not let that chance slip. Sibley’s vigil of 70 deliveries for 18 runs came to a tame end, giving the tourists a huge opening in the second session. The buck lies on the captain Joe Root again to rescue them.

Earlier, England captain Joe Root won the toss and elected to bat first. Young batsman Ollie Pope missed out due to injury, paving the way for Jonny Bairstow. The hosts have opted for four fast bowlers in Sam Curran, Ollie Robinson, James Anderson, and Stuart Broad. India also moved forward without a frontline spinner and opted for Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Shardul Thakur.
