Mohammed Siraj was already halfway into his celebration as he raised his finger up and roared in joy, thinking he had sent Ben Stokes packing with a stunning run-out by Anshul Kamboj at the bowler’s end on Day 4 of the ongoing fourth Test between India and England in Manchester.
However, Mohammed Siraj’s celebration quickly turned into a shock. The moment unfolded in the 136th over of England’s innings against India. Siraj thought Anshul Kamboj had pulled off a stunning run-out when Ben Stokes rushed for a risky single.

As soon as Kamboj nailed a direct hit at the bowler’s end, Siraj went wild, but just as the Indian cricket team got excited, the third umpire ruined their party. Replays showed Stokes had slid his bat in just in time. The big screen flashed “NOT OUT,” leaving the Indian camp stunned.

And India had to pay for this error, as Ben Stokes went on to play one of the best innings of his career to help England take firm control of the ongoing fourth Test, leading by a massive 311 runs against India. India had a tough time with the ball. Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley gave them a strong start.
Duckett was dismissed for 94, while Zake was removed for 84. But Joe Root continued his stunning form with a record-breaking 150 on Day 3. The England captain also returned to make things even worse for India on Day 4.
India in deep trouble after Ben Stokes' masterclass
The Indian bowlers looked tired and ineffective, and four of them ended up conceding over 100 runs each for the first time since India’s 2014-15 tour of Australia. Stokes played a stunning knock of 141 runs off 198 balls with the help of 11 boundaries and three sixes to help his team post 669 runs on the board in reply to India’s 358 in the first innings.

For only the seventh time ever, a team has taken a 300-plus first-innings lead after making over 350 in the first innings. India now needs a solid and fearless batting effort to avoid defeat and keep the ongoing five-match Test series alive.
However, Chris Woakes has already removed Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan for ducks to hand a nightmare start to the tourists in their second innings before lunch on Day 4.
Ricky Ponting warns India of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj’s fitness
Meanwhile, the former Australian captain Ricky Ponting is worried about Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj’s fitness in the ongoing fourth Test. The commentator feels the long series and heavy workload are affecting the fast bowlers, especially Siraj, who is playing his fourth match.
Ricky Ponting was quoted as saying by Sky Sports, “But there were always concerns about Bumrah and Siraj, really, getting through this Test series with as many games under their belt as possible. This is, I think, the fourth game now for Mohammed Siraj. So, they're starting to take their toll; there's no doubt about that. That's why the game's called Test Cricket. It is a test—it's a physical test, it's a mental test, and it's a challenge.”
