India National Cricket Team premier pacer Mohammed Siraj paid a rich tribute to the late Portugal footballer Diogo Jota during the Lord's Test against England.
Mohammed Siraj came up with an emotional gesture as a tribute to Diogo Jota after dismissing the England National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman Jamie Smith on Friday, July 11.
Mohammed Siraj cleans up Jamie Smith for 51
Jamie Smith has been in top form in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, and his consistent performances have helped him become the fastest wicketkeeper-batsman in Test history to score 1000 runs in terms of balls faced.
He got an early lifeline during the first innings in the Lord's Test when KL Rahul dropped him, and he made sure to punish India after that. The young English wicketkeeper-batsman smashed a terrific half-century and finished with a score of 51 runs off 56 balls.
He was cleaned up by Mohammed Siraj in the 107th over. Siraj bowled a length delivery to Smith outside off-stump that swung away, and the English wicketkeeper-batsman only managed to get an outside edge with the ball going straight into the hands of wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel.
After picking up the wicket, Mohammed Siraj was seen gesturing '2 0' with his fingers. It was a tribute to Diogo Jota, the 28-year-old Liverpool and Portugal forward, who tragically died in a car accident in northwestern Spain on July 3, along with his brother, Andre Silva.
Jota's Lamborghini crashed after a tyre blowout, causing the car to leave the road and ignite. In response to his death, Liverpool announced they will "immortalise" Jota’s jersey number 20 in his memory.

Smith is in the form of his life - Nasser Hussain
Speaking on Sky Sports, Nasser Hussain lauded Jamie Smith, saying that he is in the form of his life. He said:
"It really was a session of two halves. That first half belonged to India and the magical Bumrah with that new ball from late last night - the Stokes delivery was virtually unplayable.
"Then England, as they often do, fought back with the tail. Carse is a very good player and Smith is in the form of his life. England's tempo has been spot on. That is why I like Smith with the lower order, he gets it just right. He is a serious player and is going to be a serious player for a long time."
Meanwhile, Michael Atherton praised Joe Root for his sensational century. He stated:
"Nobody is better than Joe Root at finding the gaps when the boundaries dry up. He's the most adaptable, versatile, and skillful player that England have, and the one that is least set in his ways I think. It was a day for him yesterday."
