The initiative was started by Praveen Balusu, who founded the Telugu MSDians fan club. He also works as a vice president at an IT company. Every year, the group celebrates Dhoni's birthday by visiting orphanages and taking part in charity activities. After thinking about different ideas, Praveen decided that a blood donation camp would be the best way to celebrate the occasion. He chose the Chiranjeevi Eye and Blood Bank because of the social service work done by veteran actor Chiranjeevi and his son Ram Charan.
