Pakistan Women suffered an 88-run defeat to India in their second World Cup match. They had restricted the Women in Blue to 247 runs. In reply, Pakistan could manage only 159 runs in 43 overs. Debate Erupts After Muneeba Ali Run-Out in Women’s World Cup Clash
Muneeba Ali was struck on the pads by a delivery from Kranti Goud, but the umpire turned down India’s LBW appeal. Muneeba was outside her crease when a throw from Deepti Sharma hit the stumps.
She had grounded her bat earlier, but it came off the crease when the stumps were struck. After several replays, the third umpire gave her out. The decision left Pakistan shocked and frustrated. Captain Fatima Sana spoke with the fourth umpire, but the ruling remained unchanged.
Muneeba Ali had to walk off the field, and the coaching staff reacted in disbelief at the sequence of events. Meanwhile, the Indian team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, stayed calm and composed throughout the incident.

What the Laws Say About Muneeba Ali’s Controversial Run-Out
Former Australian cricketer Mel Jones explained why Muneeba Ali was given out. She said the batter was not running or diving when her bat came off the crease.
According to cricket law 30.1.2, a batter is considered safe if they are running or diving and have grounded part of their bat beyond the popping crease. Muneeba was deemed to be out of her ground when the stumps were hit, as she neither ran nor dived.
"Law of cricket 30.1.2. Batter shall not be considered to be out of her ground in running or diving towards her ground and beyond, and having grounded some part of her bat, the bat beyond the popping increase," she said on air.
"There is subsequent loss of contact between the ground and any part of her person or bat, or between the that and the person. So, she wasn’t running, she wasn’t diving. And so, because of that fact, there was no running or diving; that is the reason why she’s been given out,” Jones added.
India Dismantle Pakistan in Women’s World Cup Match
The World Cup match between India Women and Pakistan Women started with controversy when the toss was incorrectly awarded to Pakistan. Fatima Sana called tails, but the coin landed on heads.
Batting first, India were restricted to 247 despite contributions from Pratika Rawal (31), Harleen Deol (46), and Jemimah Rodrigues (25). Richa Ghosh scored an unbeaten 35 off 20 balls, providing late momentum. Diana Baig (4/69) and Fatima Sana (2/38) were the standout bowlers for Pakistan.
Chasing 248, Pakistan were bowled out for 159 in 43 overs. Sidra Amin scored 81 off 106 balls, including nine fours and one six. Kranti Goud was the pick of the bowlers for India with figures of 3/20, while Deepti Sharma took three wickets and Sneh Rana claimed two, as India secured an 88-run victory.
