Former Sri Lanka spin legend Muttiah Muralitharan has arguably been the best off-spinner to grace the game. Despite several questions raised about his bowling action, Muttiah Muralitharan became silently tormented various batting line-ups in any condition. As a result, he became crossed the 800-wicket mark in his final Test. But a younger version of Murali could come in the immediate future as a video of his son imitating his action surfaced.

Muttiah Muralitharan has one of the most peculiar and intriguing bowling actions in cricketing history and has often been called for chucking. But the 49-year old’s son teenage son has perfectly replicated his action in a video doing rounds on Twitter. The follow-through and the way Naren Muralitharan does is almost the same as his father. Hence, he could be a promising prospect for Sri Lanka in the future.

Muttiah Muralitharan retired as the greatest off-spinner, bagging the most wickets in both Test and ODI cricket. The Kandy-born cricketer ended his Test career with 800 wickets in 133 Tests at 22.72, while his 67 fifers were also the most for the bowler in the longest format. The record could remain unbroken forever.

In 50-over cricket, Muralitharan has 534 scalps in 350 ODIs at 23.08. While his Test career finished on a splendid note, the same could not happen to his One-day international career. The prolific’s off-spinner final ODI came against India at the 2011 World Cup final, which Sri Lanka lost by six wickets. Currently, he serves as the spin-bowling consultant for the SunRisers Hyderabad.
