Tamil Nadu's wicketkeeper-batter Narayan Jagadeesan smashed six fours in an over to create history in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. He achieved this monumental feat during Tamil Nadu's preliminary quarter-final match against Rajasthan at Kotambi Stadium, Vadodara.

Jagadeesan looked in great form with the bat as he came to open the innings alongside Tushar Raheja. The first over bowled by Khaleel Ahmed went for 10 runs as Raheja started the carnage. But the real damage was about to happen in the second over.

The first ball bowled by Aman Shekhawat was a wayward delivery which went for five wides. The bowler then bowled a short of a length ball outside off first up and Jagadeesan slashed hard over the slip for a four. The second ball was nicely guided away past the point for another four.

In the next ball, Narayan Jagadeesan smashed another short of a length delivery for a four over the slip as the fielder at third man misfielded a bit. The next ball was played in the air but Narayan Jagadeesan managed to place the ball for another boundary through point.

Shekhawat changed his lines and bowled the next ball on the body but that didn't change the result as Jagadeesan slammed him through midwicket for yet another four. The wicketkeeper-opener put the last ball through fine leg for another four to wrap up a historic over.

History in Indian domestic cricket

After a five-ball wide first-up, Narayan Jagadeesan smashed six fours in a row to create a milestone moment in Indian domestic cricket. It is the most no. of runs ever scored in an over in List A cricket without hitting a six.

It was a forgettable over for Aman Shekhawat as he just couldn't find his line and rhythm. As expected, he wasn't brought into the spell again. The over went for 29 runs. Tamil Nadu reached 39-0 in two overs.

Narayan Jagadeesan scored 65 off 52 balls with 10 fours. Six of these fours came in just a single over. Aman Shekhawat's unusual action didn't trouble Jagadeesan as he was all over him in this over.

Varun Chakravarthy picks up a five-wicket haul

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu won the toss earlier and elected to field first. Opener Abhijeet Tomar smashed a brilliant hundred against a potent bowling attack. Skipper Mahipal Lomror batted well and struck a belligerent 49-ball-60 which included 3 fours and 4 sixes.

Wicketkeeper Kartik Sharma provided the late impetus to the innings as Rajasthan scored 267 and were bowled out within 47.3 overs. Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy picked up a magnificent five wicket-haul for Tamil Nadu (5-52 in 9 overs).

In reply, the match has reached an interesting position where anything can happen. Rajasthan bowlers came back strongly after a horror start. They restricted a strong Tamil Nadu batting order and made them work hard.
