Not only the current cricketers, but the former Indian cricketers and the whole cricket-mad nation also enjoyed the moment.
People took to the streets across the country to celebrate the historic moment. It was a moment to remember for the fans inside the stadium and also for those who watched this game from their homes.
Hardik Pandya's performance in Champions Trophy 2025
Hardik Pandya scored a run-a-ball 18 in the final and formed a vital partnership with KL Rahul to take India closer to the win. However, he was dismissed with less than 15 runs needed to win by Kyle Jamieson.
But Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul ensured to take India home safely in the end with some finishing touches. Jadeja hit the winning runs off the fast bowler Will O'Rourke through the leg side and immediately raised his arms aloft to celebrate the moment.
It wasn't a great day for Hardik Pandya with the ball as he went for 30 runs in three overs. The allrounder shared the new ball with Mohammed Shami but Rachin Ravindra took him to the cleaners in his second over of the powerplay.
He went for 16 runs in the over and wasn't given the ball until the 49th over of the match when he conceded 12 runs. Hardik played vital cameos throughout the tournament which helped India win crucial moments.
He scored a run-a-ball 45 on a tough pitch against New Zealand in the last group-stage match of the tournament. Pandya also scored a fiery 28 off 24 balls in the semi-final against Australia which proved to be vital in the end.
India chased down a competitive target
India's win was set up by the spinners who hunted in pack to reduce New Zealand to 251-7 in 50 overs. Rachin Ravindra batted fluently in the initial stages but once he was dismissed, Indian spinners applied the squeeze.
NZ batters were unable to score runs quickly but the allrounder Michael Bracewell provided a flourish in the end to take his team to a competitive total.
In reply, India started brilliantly as Rohit Sharma gave his team a blazing start at the top. The Men in Blue lost three quick wickets but the middle order was calm enough to complete the win.
