The game between Surrey and Hampshire on Thursday (July 18) in the ongoing T20 Blast was interrupted briefly due to a bizarre reason.
As the teams were busy playing the game at the Oval, a fox sprinted onto the outfield and ran all around the playing area. The totally unexpected incident took place in the sixth over of Hampshire's innings when Chris Jordan was bowling to Toby Albert.
No manual intervention was needed as the fox soon found its way out of the ground. It jumped over the advertisement board much to the delight of the crowd before the game resumed. It was not the first time that a game of cricket had to be stopped due to an expected and bizarre interruption. In the past, cricket matches were stopped due to cats, dogs, and even snakes invading the playing area.

Talking about the game, Surrey beat Hampshire by 5 wickets. Asked to bat first, Hampshire posted a competitive total of 183 runs. They were in a spot of bother after losing 5 wickets for just 96 runs. However, Tony Albert stood firm at one end and scored a brilliant half-century to take his team to a 180-plus total. Albert scored 66 runs off 45 balls with the help of 5 fours and 2 sixes.
For Surrey, Jordan Clark picked up 3 wickets while Matt Dunn claimed two. With the bat, Surrey chased down the total with five balls remaining thanks to a brilliant unbeaten century by Sam Curran.
Surrey started their chase in a dismal fashion and were reeling at 27 for 3 in the 5th over. However, Curran did not let Hampshire capitalize on the early breakthroughs as he single-handedly took Surrey to the brilliant win. On the first ball of the final over, he hit a six to complete his century as well as take Surrey home. Curran remained unbeaten on 102 runs off 58 balls.
