Former Pakistan fast bowler Tanvir Ahmed has tried to downplay the Test credentials of the Indian speedster Mohammed Siraj but ended up being roasted by his own anchor on a live TV show. Mohammed Siraj is currently playing in the third Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England at Lord’s.

Siraj bowled 23.3 overs and got two wickets while conceding 85 runs as England posted 387 on the board in their first innings against India in the ongoing third Test of the five-match Test series at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground. The pacer had a number of chances but was spilled by the fielders.

As India and England are facing each other at Lord’s, a video of Tanvir Ahmed and PTV Sports anchor Asif Khan having a heated exchange on a live TV show over the caliber of Mohammed Siraj has gone viral. The argument was stretched to the limit, that both questioned their standards.

However, they were talking about Siraj’s stunning bowling performance in the second Test at Edgbaston, where Siraj bagged 6 wickets in the first innings and then managed one wicket in the second innings to play his role in India’s record-breaking 336-run win over England.

I don't see Mohammed Siraj as a Test-level bowler: Tanvir Ahmed

It all began when the anchor reminded Tanvir of his previous comment, saying, “You don't consider Siraj a bowler of a Test match; you said it in the previous program.” Tanvir doubled down and remained firm on his stance, saying he still didn’t see Siraj as “a top-level Test bowler.”

That’s when Asif hit back at the former Pakistan pacer by asking, “What is your level?” It left Tanvir furious, and he asked how a journalist could question his standard before saying he was a Test cricketer. Well, then the Asif pointed out that Siraj is currently taking wickets in England and questioned Tanvir’s judgment by asking what standard he was using to make such claims.

“What’s Your Standard?”: Pakistani anchor roasts Tanvir Ahmed for downplaying Mohammed Siraj

Tanvir defended himself by saying, “My level, thank God, I am a Test cricketer.” However, the anchor has clarified that he wasn’t insulting Tanvir’s career, but his opinions didn’t match current results, as Siraj’s performance speaks for itself in the ongoing Test series.

In the clip, Asif Khan can be heard saying, “What is your standard? A man is taking wickets in England, and you are saying he is not a bowler of a Test match. Then what is your standard?” To which, Tanvir said, “You are saying that I don't have a standard. I have a standard of Pakistan.”

The anchor added, “I didn't mean to say that you don't have a standard. I am talking according to the standard of performance. And Siraj is doing a great job at the moment in Tests.”

Notably, Siraj is currently the leading wicket-taker in the ongoing Test series against England. He has so far taken 11 wickets, and he is expected to add more to his tally in the ongoing Lord’s Test.
