Indian women’s team pacer Pooja Vastrakar bowled an unplayable delivery to dismiss Australia’s batter Ellyse Perry during the one-off Test. Pooja Vastrakar gave her team a dream start, dismissing Ellyse Perry for just four runs in the first innings of the ongoing Test match.

The Alyssa Healy-led team won the toss and chose to bat first at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, December 21. However, the Australian team lost a wicket in the first over, with debutant Phoebe Litchfield being dismissed without facing a single delivery.

There was a misunderstanding between Beth Mooney and Phoebe Litchfield, resulting in a runout. Litchfield, considered a rising talent, was dismissed for a diamond duck. The Indian fielder seized the opportunity as Litchfield hesitated while attempting a risky single.

Pooja Vastrakar capitalized on the conditions with the new ball, impressively pitching it in the right areas during the ongoing match. Vastrakar dismissed Ellyse Perry with an exceptional delivery. That left a significant gap between bat and pad and rattled her stumps.

Perry acknowledged the quality of the delivery as she walked back. The Indian pacer and her teammates recognized the importance of the wicket. However, the host team failed to capitalize on the start and was unable to pick up a few more wickets with the new ball.

Tahlia McGrath Dismissed Following Half Century In First Innings

Beth Mooney and Tahlia McGrath steadied the innings, adding an 80-run partnership for the third wicket. McGrath started the innings with a positive approach, smashing a couple of boundaries. However, Tahlia (50) was dismissed immediately after scoring a fifty.

The Australian opener was caught by Sneh Rana just before lunch, having scored 40 runs off 90 deliveries. Vastrakar surprised Mooney with a short pitch delivery around off stump, leading to an awkward fend to Rana at first slip, who took a straightforward catch.

It’s worth mentioning that India missed several opportunities to pick wickets. Indian fielders dropped catches that could have dismissed McGrath and a failed DRS on Mooney, where replays indicated three reds.
