There was no love lost between Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer as the former gave the latter a fiery send-off during the ongoing first qualifier between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings.
The India stars were involved in a heated altercation when PBKS and RCB faced each other earlier in the competition. It all began with Virat Kohli's animated celebration after RCB won the game. Soon after Jitesh Sharma hit the winning runs, the former RCB captain, at the non-striker's end, turned towards Shreyas Iyer and let out an animated fist pump.
The PBKS captain was not at all impressed with Virat Kohli's gesture and made it clear soon. Iyer's facial expression during the interaction made it clear that he was not happy with Kohli's celebration before both players walked away.

And on Thursday (May 29), Kohli reignited the memories of the altercation by giving Iyer a send-off. The PBKS captain had to walk out to bat at the end of the third over after his team lost its second wicket. The onus was on Iyer to play a captain's knock and lay the foundation for a big total.
However, Iyer had a rare failure with the bat as he was dismissed by Josh Hazlewood for just 2 runs. Iyer edged the ball behind the stumps, where Jitesh Sharma took an easy catch. As soon as Jitesh completed the catch, a pumped-up Kohli ran towards his teammates while staring at Iyer and let out a huge roar to celebrate the big breakthrough. Preity Zinta looked quite sad seeing the PBKS skipper walking back.

Meanwhile, PBKS were reeling at 60/6 in the 9th over at the time of writing this report. Asked to bat first, PBKS have been losing wickets at regular intervals right from the start. With most of their recognized batters back in the hut, the Punjab-based outfit need something really special to post a competitive total.
