Prithvi Shaw's return to batting in the ongoing Duleep Trophy did not last long because of a top-class delivery from the hands of the spinner Abid Mushtaq. Prithvi Shaw went to defend the ball on his front foot, head down, but the ball, which was slightly between the middle and leg stumps, turned slightly away from the batter and knocked down the off stump.
A brilliant example of spin bowling by the North Zone spinner Abid Mushtaq, Prithvi Shaw went for a well-made 22-run knock from 21 balls. Shaw was looking good on the track, playing shots aggressively until the pitched-up delivery from Mushtaq, which completely outfoxed the West Zone batter.
What. A. Ball 😮

Prithvi Shaw bowled out against Abid Mushtaq in Duleep Trophy
Expectations were, as usual, high on Prithvi, as cricket fans still believe in his talent. Talent selectors also picked him for the Duleep Trophy 2026-27, showing trust in him. The 26-year-old started batting on a positive note. Before losing his wicket, the right-hander smashed four 4s as well. He came in as an opener for the West Zone cricket team alongside Harvik Desai.
While Desai was dismissed for only 3, Shaw scored 22. North Zone started their bowling well with Arshdeep Singh and Abid Mushtaq. The combination of pacer and spinner proved instantly effective when they plucked Hardik Desai out of the equation through Arshdeep Singh.
Later, Abid Mushtaq removed the other half of the West Zone opening combination. So far, the spinner has taken one wicket and three maidens in 5 overs. Prithvi Shaw fell short in the sixth over, when West Zone was on 23 runs, and Desai was batting with only 1 run from 11 balls.
"Gone! What a peach of a delivery! Yeah, nothing that Prithvi Shah could do over there. Just quality bowling," one of the commentators described the dismissal.
Anshul Kamboj played an explosive knock against West Zone
In the quarter-finals of the Duleep Trophy in Bengaluru at BCCI's Center of Excellence (CoE), North Zone scored 251 runs in the first innings. Anshul Kamboj and Ayush Badoni scored half-centuries each to take the team to a responsible position.
The explosive knock from Kamboj was unexpected. He played the 60-run knock off 52 balls with five 4s and five 6s. With the ball, Tanush Kotian and Tushar Deshpande took 4 wickets each for the West Zone cricket team.
West Zone has plenty of chances to make a return in the match
As of now, the pitch in Bengaluru looks pretty balanced both for batting and bowling. So, West Zone, who lost two crucial wickets at the initial stage of the innings, could still make a strong return with the bat. Musheer Khan is on the pitch, playing an anchor role.
Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad is on the bench and is yet to come to bat. Mukesh Chaudhary is also in the line-up and could take some long shots to shift the momentum of the match. After 10 overs, West Zone is behind North Zone by 220 runs.
