Prithvi Shaw will be desperate to do well in his maiden county stint as he looks to get his career back on track. The highly-rated batsman has fallen down the pecking order in the Indian team and is nowhere close to earning a recall at present.

In fact, he is not even being considered for the second-string Indian teams. Prithvi Shaw could not even find a place in the Indian squad for this month’s three-match series in Ireland as well as the upcoming Asian Games although the selectors named a second-string side for both the assignments.

The right-handed batsman has had a poor campaign in this year’s Indian Premier League season too where he constantly struggled with the bat and was also dropped from the playing eleven. In 8 games, he managed just 106 runs at an average of less than 14 for Delhi Capitals.

Prithvi Shaw impresses in England:

Prithvi Shaw last played for India on the tour of Sri Lanka in July 2021. Earlier this year, he earned a recall for the T20I series against New Zealand but did not play any games and was dropped from the team soon. The youngster is now looking to get his career back on track and has decided to play county cricket for the first time.

He has signed up with Northamptonshire for his maiden county stint. And while he will be looking to make a big impact for the county outfit, Prithvi Shaw has started his sojourn in England on a good note. He recently played a quickfire knock during a warm-up inter-team match for the Steelback. Known for his aggressive batting, Prithvi Shaw smashed 65 runs off just 39 balls.

Prithvi Shaw is widely regarded as one of the best talents in the country and many believe that he will be a key player for India in the future. Having started his Test career with a sparkling century in 2018, the Mumbai star has performed really well in the domestic circuit so far.
