India A batter Priyansh Arya suffered an unfortunate run-out during the opening match of the Tri-Nation A Series against Sri Lanka A. The left-hander was dismissed after a mix-up with Ruturaj Gaikwad, with his bat getting stuck under the shoe of wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella as he tried to make his ground.
The opening match of the Tri-Nation A Series between India A and Sri Lanka A is being played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla on Tuesday, June 9. India A won the toss and chose to bat first against the hosts, with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Prabhsimran Singh opening the innings.
Priyansh Arya Run Out After Unusual Incident Against Sri Lanka A
The unusual dismissal took place on the final ball of the 13th over bowled by Ravindu Fernando. Ruturaj Gaikwad pushed the ball towards deep cover and called for a second run. Priyansh Arya initially responded but stopped midway after noticing Avishka Fernando moving quickly towards the ball.
Gaikwad continued running while watching the ball and assumed his partner was following him. By the time he realized the misunderstanding, he had already reached the striker's end, leaving both batters at the same end and giving Sri Lanka A a simple run-out chance.

The third umpire confirmed that Arya's bat was accidentally blocked by wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella's boot as he tried to make his ground.
"No. 18 (Priyansh Arya) batter's bat blocked by the wicket-keeper's boot so No. 18 is run out."
Replays showed that Gaikwad had safely reached the crease first. As Arya stretched his bat forward, it got caught under Dickwella's left boot while the wicketkeeper moved towards the stumps to collect the throw.
Dickwella quickly underarmed the ball to the non-striker's end, where Ravindu Fernando completed the run-out. The dismissal ended a promising knock from Arya, who scored 32 runs off 32 balls, including four fours and one six.
India A Lose Both Openers Inside First Five Overs
Before Priyansh Arya's unfortunate run-out, he and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad had helped India A recover with an important 50-run partnership. The pair came together after India A suffered a poor start and lost both openers inside the first five overs of the innings.
Sri Lanka A fast bowler Mohamed Shiraz picked up the first wicket of the match by dismissing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for 14. The left-hander looked positive during his brief stay and hit three boundaries before mistiming a drive. Sri Lanka A captain Sahan Arachchige completed an excellent low diving catch at mid-off to end the youngster's debut innings.
Sri Lanka A struck again soon after through experienced seamer Chamika Karunaratne. Prabhsimran Singh struggled against a short delivery that jagged back into him and could only lob the ball towards the off side. Sadeera Samarawickrama sprinted in from the circle and completed a sharp diving catch to leave India A in trouble.
With both openers back in the pavilion early, Gaikwad and Arya steadied the innings with sensible batting. Their partnership helped India A recover from the early collapse before Arya's bizarre run-out handed the momentum back to the hosts.
