Afghanistan faced a setback in their ODI series against Bangladesh after batter Rahmat Shah sustained a calf injury while batting in the second match at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, October 11. The experienced player is now unlikely to feature in the third and final ODI on October 14.
Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh by 81 runs in a low-scoring game. The Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side posted 190 runs in 44.5 overs. All-rounder Azmatullah picked up early wickets, while Rashid Khan secured five wickets. Afghanistan took an unassailable 2-0 lead after dismissing Bangladesh for 109 runs.

Rahmat Shah suffered a serious calf injury and left the field in a wheelchair. Shah attempted a quick single and immediately showed signs of discomfort in the 15th over. He showed signs of discomfort and was unable to walk properly. Shah retired hurt and received treatment off the field.
Shah made a courageous attempt to resume his innings when Afghanistan were nine wickets down for 189. The crowd applauded as he limped back to bat, but his comeback lasted only one ball.

Rahmat Shah Likely to Miss Third ODI Against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi
Rahmat Shah is set to miss the final ODI against Bangladesh after suffering an injury. Team physio Nirmalan Thanabalasingam confirmed that Shah’s scans would be conducted soon, but indicated the setback is serious enough to sideline him for some time.
"He (Rahmat) unfortunately succumbed to his injury, so he is out now. We will do all the right things in terms of imaging and stuff tomorrow. He is going to be out for some time, I think," Thanabalasingam said, according to Cricbuzz.
Rahmat recently became the first Afghan batter to surpass 4,000 ODI runs and played a key half-century in the series opener. His absence is a significant loss for Afghanistan ahead of the concluding match against Bangladesh.
Maiden fifer for Rashid Khan against Bangladesh
Afghanistan struggled for momentum after opting to bat first. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sediqullah Atal were dismissed for low scores. Rahmat Shah retired hurt during the 15th over. Ibrahim Zadran and Mohammad Nabi batted for over ten overs. Nabi was dismissed for 22 runs off 30 balls.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz picked up three wickets, while Tanzim Hasan, Sakib, and Mustafizur Rahman claimed two wickets each.
Bangladesh were bowled out for just 109 in 28.3 overs, with Towhid Hridoy top-scoring with 24. Rashid Khan ran through the Afghanistan lineup, picking up five crucial wickets, including dismissals of Towhid Hridoy, Nurul Hasan, and others. He finished with five wickets for 17 runs in his 8.3 overs.
