Rahmat Shah was run out in an unfortunate manner in the ongoing third ODI between Afghanistan and South Africa at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah.
The right-handed batsman had faced just six deliveries before his stay at the crease was cut short by one of the freakiest run-outs ever seen in the game. Rahmat Shah was standing at the non-striker's end when Lungi Ngidi's brilliant reflex caught him short of his crease.
The incident took place in the ninth over when Ngidi was bowling to Rahmanullah Gurbaz. On the fifth ball of the over, Gurbaz drove the ball towards the bowler. Ngidi stuck his right hand out to catch the ball in his follow-through but only managed to get his fingertips and deflected the ball towards Rahmat.
Rahmat was already out of his crease at that time and before he could get back inside the crease, the ball hit him on his body and then got deflected towards the stump. He had almost no time to react as the ball hit the stumps before he could get back inside the crease safely. The Afghan batter had to depart after scoring 1 run off 6 balls.

Talking about the game, Afghanistan were on 129/5 after 25 overs at the time of writing this report. Gurbaz, who scored a brilliant century in the previous game, is once again leading his team's charge with the bat. He was unbeaten on 87 off 85 balls with the help of 7 fours and 4 sixes. Mohammad Nabi was unbeaten at the other end.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan have already sealed the series by winning the first two ODIs. Playing their first-ever bilateral series against South Africa, the Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side outplayed their fancied hosts in both games.
They won the first game by six wickets after bowling out the Proteas for just 106 runs. In the second ODI, Afghanistan scored 311 runs and went on to win the game by 177 runs. With form and momentum on their side, Afghanistan will be looking to win the third ODI too to complete a famous whitewash.
