Gujarat Titans (GT) leg-spinner Rashid Khan mocked Rajasthan Royals (RR) all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja through a humorous social media video after their recent IPL clash between the two teams. The Afghanistan spinner recreated Jadeja’s famous “empty pockets” celebration, which went viral on social media.

Gujarat Titans defeated Rajasthan Royals by 77 runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday, May 9. Rajasthan Royals stand-in captain Yashasvi Jaiswal won the toss and elected to field first. Gujarat Titans posted a massive total of 229/4 in 20 overs before bowling Rajasthan Royals out for 152 in 16.3 overs.

Following the dominant victory, Gujarat Titans shared a playful social media video featuring Rashid Khan emptying his pockets in celebration. The gesture appeared to be a humorous response to Ravindra Jadeja’s earlier “player in pocket” celebration during the match.

Jadeja produced the celebration after dismissing Jos Buttler during the Gujarat Titans’ innings. The veteran all-rounder bowled a tempting delivery outside off stump, forcing Buttler into a mistimed shot. After the wicket, Jadeja slipped his hand into his pocket as a new variation of his famous sword celebration.

While Jadeja’s gesture grabbed attention during the first innings, Rashid Khan had the final laugh after producing a match-winning performance with the ball and later responding with his own light-hearted celebration following Gujarat Titans’ comfortable win.

It Was Something Unusual for Me - Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan stole the spotlight with a brilliant match-winning spell. The leg-spinner, who won the Player of the Match award, spoke about rediscovering his rhythm after struggling with physical fitness issues over the last two seasons.

“Quite happy. It was something unusual for me (in the last two seasons). This season, more about enjoying myself and hitting the right areas consistently. Happy with that (so far),” Rashid said after the match.

Rashid finished with impressive figures of 4/33 in his four overs. Earlier in the match, Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill gave Gujarat Titans a strong start with a 118-run opening partnership off just 65 balls. Sudharsan scored 55 runs from 36 deliveries before getting dismissed.

I Took Only Two Months to Get Back - Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan admitted that returning too quickly after surgery previously affected his bowling rhythm and consistency. The spinner explained that taking a longer break after last season helped him improve his fitness and regain confidence with the ball.

“When I had that surgery, I took only two months to get back. That time, I made a huge mistake (of coming back soon). Last year, when IPL was over, I had 2-3 months off and tried to work on my fitness. The moment I bowled the first ball, I knew there was something for me. Pace was something I was trying to mix up.”

The Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans moved to second place in the 10-team points table following the victory. Gujarat Titans have registered seven wins from 11 matches, with 14 points and a net run rate of +0.228. They will next face Sunrisers Hyderabad at home on May 12.
