Jasprit Bumrah produces a wicket-taking opportunity, but Ravindra Jadeja spoils it

Jadeja is regarded as one of the best fielders in world cricket. His excellent fitness gives him an edge on the field, and he takes some exceptional catches and produces brilliant run-outs.

Many former cricketers have labelled Jadeja as the best fielder of his generation, and the all-rounder rarely makes mistakes on the field.

That rare moment occurred during the first Test between India and England at Headingley in Leeds on Saturday, June 21, as Jadeja dropped an absolute sitter to give a reprieve to the explosive opener Ben Duckett.

The premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah bowled a sensational 7th over, and after bowling five consecutive dot balls, he produced a wicket-taking delivery.

On the sixth ball, he bowled a length delivery just outside off-stump, and Ben Duckett remained inside the line and slashed hard. He wasn't able to keep it down, and the ball went quickly towards Ravindra Jadeja.

The ball was catchable, but Ravindra Jadeja fumbled the chance and dropped the catch. After giving a lifeline to Ben Duckett for 15, Jadeja was livid with himself and slammed the ball on the turf.

England slammed for choosing to bowl first

Speaking on Sky Sports ahead of the start of the play on Day 2, the former cricketer Mark Butcher slammed England for choosing to bowl first in the match against India. He elaborated:

"Potentially yes. Listen, the only person who was happy about what happened with the toss yesterday, potentially, was Nasser Hussein. Remember he famously put Australia in in Brisbane.

"I think on that occasion Australia ended up 360 for two, so even yesterday was marginally better than that. But listen, we turned up here yesterday early in the morning and it just looked like a batting day all day long. You know the pitch looked very very flat, the weather was absolutely perfect, no overhead conditions, no cloud cover, nothing like that at all."

"And if you aren't going to have a bat on a day like that then I don't know under which circumstances you do. Yes, of course the history here is that the pitch doesn't tend to break up and that run chases can be easier in the fourth innings. However, we have heat here and we haven't had a great deal of that over the last two or three test matches here at Henley that I can remember.

"And the fact that it was sort of 30 degrees yesterday, it feels as though it might even be a little bit hotter than that today. Kind of gives you the impression that things might move in terms of the way this pitch behaves laterally in the match. So listen, it was a really tough day for England, but honestly they only really had themselves to blame for making that call at the toss."
