Team India's preparation for the upcoming five-match Test series against England is in full swing.

With stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retiring from Tests last month, the Indian team will embark on a new journey, and the upcoming series will mark its beginning.

Shubman Gill to lead India

Shubman Gill has replaced Rohit Sharma as the new Test captain of the team and will be keen to start his reign on a good note. Team India have not won a Test series in England since 2007. The Shubman Gill-led side has the opportunity to end India's long wait for a series victory in England.

One of the most important members of the current Test team is undoubtedly Rishabh Pant. With the likes of Rohit and Kohli retiring, Rishabh Pant is one of the most experienced batters in the team, and the onus will be on him to lead the charge with the bat for the team.

The wicketkeeper-batsman will be garnering a lot of attention during the series and will look to live up to the expectations. At present, he is training with the team at the iconic Lord's and the initial signs are very promising.

During a recent training session, Rishabh Pant practised his trademark big-hitting. During the same session, he also hit a gigantic six off Washington Sundar's bowling that broke the roof of the training ground at the Lord's Cricket Ground.

Rishabh Pant's record in England:

Pant has a good record with the bat in the UK. He has played nine away Tests against England so far and has scored 556 runs. The southpaw has also hit two centuries in the English conditions and will be keen on enhancing his record with a good show in the upcoming series.

The star batsman recently plied his trade for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL and had a rollercoaster ride. While he struggled with the bat throughout the tournament, he ended his campaign with a whirlwind century against eventual winners Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, the Indian team will be playing an intra-squad match later this week against India A to fine-tune their preparations for the Test series. The match is set to begin on June 13. On the other hand, the five-match series between India and England will get underway on June 20 in Leeds.
