Team India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant played a remarkable innings during the first Test of the two-match series against Bangladesh. Rishabh Pant received a standing ovation from Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir, and the Indian dugout after reaching the triple-digit milestone in his comeback game.

Rishabh Pant started the third day's play with 12 runs off 13 balls in India's second innings. The left-handed batter showed controlled aggression in the morning session on Day 3. He was at 82 runs off 108 balls before the lunch break at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday, September 21.

The middle-order batter reached his century in 16 more balls after the lunch break in the ongoing Test match. As Pant drove the ball for two runs, his teammates, including Virat Kohli, applauded his achievement. Pant removed his helmet, smiled, and refocused on continuing his innings.

India lost three wickets for 67 runs in their second innings. However, Shubman Gill and Rishabh turned the game around, as they 167 runs in partnership off 217 balls. Pant scored 109 runs from 128 balls, including 13 fours and four sixes, before being dismissed by Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

Skipper Rohit Sharma declared the second innings at 287-4 and set a target of 515 for Bangladesh in the final innings. Shubman Gill scored his fifth Test century, remaining unbeaten on 119 runs off 176 balls, including 10 fours and four sixes. KL Rahul scored an unbeaten 22 runs off 19 balls.

Former Indian skipper Aakash Chopra praised Rishabh for his exciting return to Test cricket. Chopra said that Pant brings entertainment and keeps fans engaged with his batting. He stated that Pant has reclaimed his place where he belongs.

Back to where he belongs. Owning the 22 yards the way only he can. Well deserved 100. 👏👏 #IndvBan," Chopra wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Former cricketer Wasim Jaffer also praised Pant after his sixth Test century. Jaffer welcomed Pant back to the format, adding that his absence was felt during the last few series.

"There's simply no one else like him. Well played and welcome back @RishabhPant17, Test cricket missed you! #INDvBAN," Jaffer wrote.
