Indian captain Rohit Sharma went against wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant’s suggestion for a DRS review on Day 2 of the third Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT). Rishabh Pant was seen scolding fast bowler Akash Deep for wasting a review in the first innings after watching the replay on the big screen.
Australia resumed the second day's play at 28/0 at the Gabba in Brisbane on Saturday, December 14. Jasprit Bumrah picked up two wickets in the first session. He first dismissed Usman Khawaja (21), who was caught behind by Pant, and then removed Nathan McSweeney (9), giving India a strong start.

The incident occurred on the fifth ball of the 50th over in the first innings. India reviewed for an LBW against Steve Smith. However, the review was deemed unnecessary as the ball appeared to be too leg-side. Smith missed the flick, and replays showed that the ball was missing the leg stump by a fair margin.
Akash Deep’s review for an LBW against Smith was unsuccessful, and he was proven wrong. Rishabh Pant scolded Akash for wasting the review, as it looked unnecessary.
