Rishabh Pant’s error is turning out to be a major blunder for the Indian cricket team, as Will Young is racking up runs and staying like a stone in front of the bowlers from one side in the ongoing third and final Test at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
In a tense moment on the field in the 22nd over, Washington Sundar delivered a full ball just outside off stump to Daryl Mitchell, who expertly executed a reverse sweep on the last ball of the over on Day 1 of the Mumbai Test.

The shot raced past the slip fielders. Well, Mitchell confidently called for a second run, but confusion arose at the other end with Will Young lagging behind. As the two Kiwi batters embarked on their daring run-up, Will Young hesitated, seemingly caught off guard, leading to a desperate mix-up.
Mohammed Siraj brilliantly grabbed the ball and threw toward Rishabh Pant behind the stumps, but the throw was both high and wide, allowing Mitchell and Young to narrowly escape a potential run-out disaster. Pant's attempt to break the stumps was pointless as the chance slipped away, leaving the crowd and the Indian captain Rohit Sharma frustrated.
Mitchell, always the aggressive runner, appeared determined to make it back safely, but Will Young's slow reaction almost turned the situation into a nightmare for New Zealand, but Rishabh Pant failed to cash in on the golden opportunity.

Had the throw been directed at the bowler's end, the result could have been dramatically different, with Young likely to return to the pavilion and Team India would have been in a great position. After India missed the chance, Siraj was looking disappointed while Rohit Sharma had some animated chat with Pant, as this mistake can change the course of a game.
Unfortunately, it is happening, as Young has already notched up his fifty with Mitchell looking to continue his dominance at the crease, putting pressure on the Indian bowlers. Now, the duo look set with the bat, as Young is batting at 62 runs off 125 balls while Mitchell is also looking dangerous at 23 runs off 56 balls after surviving a verbal game from India in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, India is taking on the Kiwis in the final game without their premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who has not fully recovered from his viral illness. Mohammed Siraj replaced Bumrah in India’s playing XI for the third and final Test against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Rohit Sharma said at the toss: “We understand and accept that we haven't played well through the series. Gives us another opportunity to try and correct those things. Looks like a good pitch. Hopefully we can restrict them as quickly as possible and then focus with the bat. Our focus is on this test match."
