Riyan Parag Fights Umpires

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) star all-rounder Riyan Parag played a decent knock for his team in the 23rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against the Gujarat Titans (GT).

Riyan Parag was also seen arguing with the on-field umpires after his controversial dismissal in the match against GT at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, April 9.

Riyan Parag falls for 26 against Gujarat Titans

The 23-year-old Riyan had to arrive at the crease early after Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Rana got out inside 3 overs in the run-chase of 218 runs.

Parag started off his innings on a high as he slammed some great boundaries. After spending some time in the middle, he looked focused for a big score.

However, he was unable to play a big knock for his team as he got out after scoring 26 runs off 14 balls, with 1 four and 3 sixes, in a controversial manner.

On the fourth ball of the 7th over, GT pacer Kulwant Khejroliya bowled a 134.8 kmph delivery to Parag, who tried to play the ball down towards the deep backward point.

It looked like the ball took a faint edge off the bat and went straight into the hands of Jos Buttler, who completed the catch easily.

Parag was not convinced that he was out, so he took a DRS. On the replays, there was a spike when the ball was next to the bat, hence, the third umpire gave it out.

However, Riyan Parag was still not convinced that he was out, and he was seen having a word with the umpires before walking back. Notably, Riyan Parag was trying to suggest that the spike was off the bat hitting the ground.

I am really glad to be part of Rajasthan - Maheesh Theekshana

Speaking ahead of the match, spinner Maheesh Theekshana said that he is delighted to be a part of the Rajasthan Royals. He stated:

"I think it's a new thing for me as I was playing for CSK since the past 3 years. I have played for the Royals in CPL. Some similar faces as well in the dressing room and I am really glad to be part of Rajasthan.

"There is nothing much of a difference here. When I was playing for CSK, me and Jaddu were the main spinners but over here, I got Hasaranga here, my countryman. Here it is little comfortable for me as I play with him and we know who will go for wickets and who will squeeze the runs. There is nothing much of a difference in bowling with the new ball or with the old ball. Over there my partner was Jaddu. Out here I have Hasaranga."

Maheesh Theekshana further said that he always wants to bowl economical overs for his team. He elaborated:

"So what I always want to do is that, I want to bowl economical overs. I know if I try to go for wickets, I might leak runs. So, I am always thinking of bowling economical overs. In T20s, you just need to get through your four overs."
