Rajasthan Royals' stand-in captain Riyan Parag led his team to the first win of the season as they defeated Chennai Super Kings in a thrilling encounter at Guwahati. Parag played a key role in the victory with his exceptional fielding performance alongside his batting.

However, Parag was surrounded by some controversy after the game. In a video caught on live television, Riyan Parag was seen taking a selfie with the IPL crew present at the ground in Guwahati.

After taking the selfie, he threw the mobile phone back to the crew rather than gently handing it over to them. The incident caught one of the men in the crew by surprise, but thankfully, there was no damage to the device.

Parag's behavior was caught on social media, and he was brutally trolled by the fans for showing arrogance towards his fans. However, in the same video, he is seen to be signing an autograph for a groundsman.

Riyan Parag's impressive day

Riyan Parag had a good day with the bat as he scored 37 runs, which proved to be vital in the end. The RR captain also took a magnificent catch to dismiss a dangerous-looking Shivam Dube, which proved to be the turning point in the game.

Parag was also impressive with his captaincy, as his brave calls ended up in a positive result. Despite Jofra Archer's one over remaining, he decided to give the final two overs to Tushar Deshpande and Sandeep Sharma.

It was the last match of the season at Guwahati as the Rajasthan Royals finally registered their first win of the season. RR had lost the first two games of the season but gave a strong statement in this match with a thumping win over CSK.

RR registers first win of the season

Rajasthan Royals batted first and scored 182-9 in 20 overs on the back of a belligerent knock from Nitish Rana, who smashed 81 off just 36 balls. Rana showed his class while batting at No. 3 and took on the CSK spinners. He struck 10 fours and 5 sixes during his knock.

Skipper Riyan Parag also chipped in with a crucial 37 off 28 balls, but the rest of the batters couldn't make any significant contribution in the lower order. Noor Ahmad, Khaleel Ahmed, and Matheesha Pathirana picked up two wickets each for CSK.

In reply, Chennai were rocked early with Jofra Archer striking with the wicket of Rachin Ravindra for a duck. But skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad held one end and kept putting the bad balls away.

But he lacked any support from the other end. Dube looked good for a big knock, but Parag's fantastic catch ended his stay at the crease. Gaikwad was finally dismissed by Hasaranga for a fine 63 off 44 balls.

Jadeja and Dhoni had 45 runs to chase off the final three overs, but CSK fell 6 runs short of the target. It was their second successive loss after winning their first match of the season.
