Tilak Varma and Riyan Parag led the celebrations for India A as they clinched the Duleep Trophy 2024-25 with a win over India C on Sunday (September 22).

With two wins and one loss, India A finished at the top of the points table to win the four-team competition. The Mayank Agarwal-led side started its campaign with a 76-run loss against India B before bouncing back with back-to-back wins.

They won the second game against India D by 186 runs before beating India C to win the Duleep Trophy. India A finished the tournament with 12 points. On the other hand, India C finished in the second spot with 9 points. A win or even a draw against India A would have made India C the Duleep Trophy winner. India B and India D finished in the third and fourth spots respectively.

India A celebrated the triumph in style and the celebrations were led by India teammates Riyan Parag and Tilak Varma. As soon as India A picked up the final India C wicket, Riyan Parag and other players uprooted the stumps and started celebrating.

The Assam star and Tilak Varma were seen dancing before other players joined the celebrations. Later, fast-bowler Avesh Khan was also seen dancing while standing next to the trophy.

Talking about the game, India A beat India C by 132 runs. Asked to bat first, India A were all out for 297 runs in the first innings. The likes of Pratham Singh (6), Mayank Agarwal (6), Tilak Varma (5), and Riyan Parag (2) failed to get going with the bat.

However, a brilliant century from Shashwat Rawat (124) helped India A post a competitive total. Avesh Khan scored an unbeaten half-century too. For India C, Vijaykumar Vyshak picked up 4 wickets while Anshul Kamboj took 3 wickets.

In reply, India C were bowled out for 234 runs. Abishek Porel top-scored for his side, scoring 82. For India A, Avesh and Aaqib Khan claimed three wickets each. In the second innings, India A declared their innings for 286/8.

Set a target of 350 runs, India C were all out for 217 runs. Sai Sudharsan waged a lone battle for his side, scoring 111 but found little support from the other end. For India A, Prasidh Krishna and Tanush Kotian picked up 3 wickets each.
