After the loss of three early wickets, Delhi Capitals promoted Vipraj Nigam in the batting order, and the allrounder made his intentions very clear right from the start. In the fifth over itself, he hit Jacks for a six and two fours.

In the earlier games this season, Vipraj showed that he is more than capable of inflicting big damage on the opposition with the bat. With the right-handed batsman starting his innings in such commanding fashion, Mumbai Indians would have liked to dismiss him as early as possible.

And it did not take long for the Mumbai Indians to get the opportunity. In the sixth over, they would have dismissed Vipraj, but Rohit Sharma made a mess of an easy catch. On the final ball of the over bowled by Mitchell Santner, Vipraj made room for himself and wanted to hit the ball on the off side.

However, he could only slice it towards Rohit Sharma, who was standing at short third man. It was an easy catch, but Rohit Sharma failed to hold on to it and gave Vipraj a crucial reprieve.
