Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul applauded Mohammed Siraj's superlative effort that saw him nearly pull off a spectacular catch at mid-off region. Siraj showed his athletic skills and flew in the air but the ball spilled out of his hands.

During the 40th over of Bangladesh's first innings, Taskin Ahmed tried to smash a full ball from Ravichandran Ashwin towards the straight boundary. However, Mohammed Siraj ran towards the ball and tried to catch it with his left hand.

He somehow managed to reach the ball with a full stretch but the ball hit his left hand and fell on the ground. Siraj was left disappointed with the result but he received praise from the captain Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul as well.

KL Rahul went towards Siraj and praised his effort. Not only Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, bowler Ravichandran Ashwin also applauded his effort. Even the dressing room including Yash Dayal was seen clapping for his teammate.

It was a brilliant effort from Mohammed Siraj who had just gone off the field after suffering an injury scare. But he returned back to the ground and nearly pulled off a stunner.

Mohammed Siraj is known to give his hundred percent whether he is bowling, fielding, or batting. Despite knowing that Bangladesh is way behind the game, he gave his all to take the catch.

Talking about his bowling performance, Mohammed Siraj bowled excellently with the new ball with Jasprit Bumrah and put Bangladesh's batters on the backfoot in testing conditions at Chennai.

Indian fast bowlers shine at Chennai

The wicket was providing seam and bounce and all the Indian fast bowlers used it to perfection. Bumrah provided India the first breakthrough and the first change bowler Akash Deep produced a stunning over before lunch where he picked up two wickets in two balls.

After lunch, Mohammed Siraj came into the wickets column and picked up his first wicket in the form of Najmul Hossain Shanto. Siraj had the Bangladesh captain edging to Virat Kohli at slip.

The slide continued as Bangladesh were reduced to 40-5 at one stage. But Litton Das and Shakib Al Hasan steadied the ship with a brief partnership between them. As it was looking that they are set, both were dismissed while trying to play uncharacteristic shots to leave their team in disarray.

Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj end Bangladesh's vigil

Mehidy Hasan Miraz tried his best down the order and held one end. But it was too much to ask for the tailenders as Jasprit Bumrah returned to pick up the wickets of Hasan Mahmud and Taskin Ahmed.

Mohammed Siraj finished things off by dismissing Nahid Rana as Bangladesh were dismissed for just 149, giving India the massive lead of 227 runs.

Jasprit Bumrah picked up finished with 4-50 while Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, and Ravindra Jadeja picked up two wickets apiece.
