Indian cricketers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul have resumed training at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru ahead of the upcoming two-match Test series against the West Indies. Notably, they are training together for the first time since the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, where India won the title.
Rohit Sharma, having retired from Tests and T20Is, is now concentrating solely on improving his performance in ODIs. KL Rahul continues to be an all-format player but has not featured in the T20I setup since the 2022 T20 World Cup. He was left out of India’s squad for the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE.

Rohit Sharma Last Played for India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Final
Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul recently attended the BCCI Centre of Excellence for pre-season assessments to undergo fitness tests ahead of upcoming matches. According to reports, both players cleared the tests and are awaiting selection for future home and overseas assignments.
Rohit’s last appearance for India came during the ICC Champions Trophy Final, where the team defeated New Zealand to claim the title. He announced his retirement from Tests in May ahead of the England tour. The opener is expected to lead India in a three-match ODI series in Australia next month.
The ODI series will begin on October 19 at the Optus Stadium in Perth, followed by matches in Adelaide on October 23 and Sydney on October 25. Rohit had taken a brief break after the IPL 2025 season.
KL Rahul Set To Play For India A in 2nd One-Day Match
KL Rahul has been included in India’s squad for the second match against Australia A, scheduled for September 23 at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. This will be his first professional appearance since the five-Test series against England, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
During the England tour, Rahul was India’s third-highest run-scorer, accumulating 532 runs at an average of 53.20, including two centuries and two fifties. His consistent performances were crucial in helping India secure a rare series draw on English soil.
Rahul also notched his ninth and tenth Test centuries in England, becoming the first Indian opener and only the second Indian overall, after Dilip Vengsarkar, to score multiple centuries at Lord’s. He added an 188-run stand with captain Shubman Gill to help India secure a draw in the fourth Test.
