India captain Rohit Sharma was surprised after Jasprit Bumrah managed to take an outstanding catch to dismiss Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto. After Jasprit Bumrah completed the catch, Rohit Sharma ran up to him to congratulate the fast bowler.

It was a length ball outside off from the left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja and Shanto, who was looking to be aggressive in order to reach his hundred, tried to smash the ball on the rise. But unfortunately, he top-edged the shot and the ball went high in the air.

Jasprit Bumrah, who was at extra cover, went to his right and held his balance to take a nice tumbling catch. The fast bowler looked in an uncomfortable position at one point but managed to hold on to the catch.

With two more wickets to go, Indian bowlers quickly wrapped up the proceedings. Ravichandran Ashwin picked up Bangladesh's ninth wicket in the form of Taskin Ahmed while Jadeja finished off the proceedings with the wicket of Hasan Mahmud.

Earlier in the day, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Shakib Al Hasan were stubborn enough to deny the Indian bowlers any wicket in the opening hour of the morning session. Both the batters were solid and found a way to stay at the crease.

Indian spinners rise to the occasion

Indian bowlers gave it their all and beat the bat several times. Siraj even tried sledging Shanto for some time and tried to get under his skin. Finally, it was Ravichandran Ashwin who provided the first breakthrough in the form of Shakib Al Hasan. The veteran allrounder was dismissed for 25.

In-form Litton Das was expected to show some fight but he was trapped in a perfect plan by Ravindra Jadeja and Rohit Sharma as he was caught at slip to a ball turning away from him. Bowling allrounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who has been a constant headache for India on a no. of occasions, also perished while trying to attempt an expansive shot off Ravichandran Ashwin.

India completed a comprehensive win over Bangladesh by 280 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the series. The next Test of the series will be played at Green Park, Kanpur from September 27. India will be looking to complete a clean sweep and pick up important World Test Championship (WTC) points.

Meanwhile, the defeat will be a tough pill to swallow for Bangladesh who had just come off a historic Test series win over Pakistan. However, Bangladesh will be looking at the positives and perform better in the next match.
