Team India ODI and Test captain Rohit Sharma was visibly shocked when a fan breached security and entered the stadium. The incident occurred during the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match between Mumbai and Jammu and Kashmir at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy in BKC in Mumbai on Saturday, January 25.

Rohit endured a poor Test series in Australia, managing only 31 runs across five innings. He then made himself available for the ongoing Ranji Trophy match against Jammu & Kashmir. However, his struggles continued, as the right-handed batter was dismissed for just 3 in the first innings and 28 in the second.

Mumbai elected to bat first after winning the toss but faced early setbacks. Returning to the Ranji Trophy after nearly a decade, Rohit struggled in his comeback, managing only three runs off 19 balls. However, his fans continued to show unwavering support despite his underwhelming performance.

The 37-year-old again struggled in the second innings of the first-class match. He scored 28 runs off 35 balls, hitting three sixes and two boundaries, but was dismissed by Yudhvir Singh, caught by Abid Mushtaq. He added a 54-run partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second innings before being dismissed.

They Can't Decide When We Should Retire - Rohit Sharma

Rohit addressed rumors about his potential Test retirement during the fifth Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia. Speaking to Star Sports, the Indian captain dismissed the speculation, stating that decisions about his career would be his own and not influenced by external opinions.

"They can't decide when we should retire, when we should sit out, when we should captain. I am a sensible man, mature man, father of two kids. So I know what I need in life."

"There is no guarantee runs won't come five or two months down the line. I have seen a lot in cricket that life changes every second, every minute, every day."

Rohit Sharma is set to captain India in the upcoming three-match ODI series against England, starting on February 6 in Nagpur. The opening batter will also lead the team in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled to begin on February 19. Team India’s matches will be held at a neutral venue in Dubai.
