The Gujarat Titans (GT) have suffered a major blow in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 as the in-form young batting sensation Sai Sudharsan seems to have picked up a hamstring injury.

Sai Sudharsan suffered the injury in the ongoing 9th match of the season between the Gujarat Titans (GT) and the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, March 29.

Sai Sudharsan in severe pain after getting injured

Sudharsan did a wonderful job for the Gujarat Titans with the bat in the ongoing match. While opening the innings, he continued his great form and smashed a fantastic half-century.

He was involved in four crucial partnerships in the innings with Shubman Gill (78 runs), Jos Buttler (51 runs), Shahrukh Khan (17 runs) and Sherfane Rutherford (33 runs).

Sai Sudharsan was eventually dismissed by the premier Mumbai Indians left-arm pacer Trent Boult's unplayable yorker in the 18th over. He finished with a score of 63 runs in 42 balls, with 4 fours and 2 sixes.

Meanwhile, an unfortunate incident happened with Sudharsan in the 9th over of the Mumbai Indians innings. On the last ball of the 9th over, Sai Kishore bowled a full ball to Suryakumar Yadav.

The Mumbai Indians batter played a brilliant sweep shot, and it went towards the long leg where Sudharsan put in a brilliant dive but was unable to stop the ball, and it went for a four.

This dive led to the young Gujarat Titans batter suffering an injury as he was instantly seen clutching his left hamstring in severe pain. Gujarat Titans physio instantly checked on Sai Sudharsan and he was helped off the field.

What Happened in the Previous IPL Match Between GT and MI?

The previous IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans was held on March 24, 2024, in Ahmedabad. Gujarat Titans (GT) beat Mumbai Indians (MI) in that game by six runs in a thrilling contest to gain crucial points.

Batting first, GT did not play very well and ended up with a total of 168 for 6 on the board in their 20 overs, thanks to valuable contributions from Sai Sudharsan (45 off 39), Shubman Gill (31 off 22), and Rahul Tewatia (22 off 15).

For Mumbai Indians, the bowling attack led by Jasprit Bumrah (3/14) and Gerald Coetzee (2/27) shined and kept GT under pressure throughout the innings, picking wickets at regular intervals.

Chasing 169, MI looked comfortable at 107/2 in 12 overs, with Rohit Sharma (43 off 29) and Dewald Brevis (46 off 38) batting quite well. However, a dramatic collapse saw them lose seven wickets for just 55 runs and they were restricted to 162/9.
