India National Cricket Team skipper Suryakumar Yadav's miserable form in the Asia Cup 2025 continued in the summit clash of the tournament against the Pakistan National Cricket Team.
Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed by a controversial catch taken by the Pakistan National Cricket Team skipper, Salman Agha, at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, September 28.
Suryakumar Yadav's horrible run in T20I cricket continues
India T20I skipper Suryakumar has been going through a lean patch for a long time. The form of the former World No.1 batsman has seen a massive downfall since he took over the reins of the T20I from Rohit Sharma.
Before the IPL, there were calls to remove Suryakumar Yadav as skipper due to his extended lean patch. However, he set the stage on fire in the Indian Premier League 2025, slamming 717 runs for the Mumbai Indians (MI).
This helped him retain the captaincy for the Asia Cup 2025. Shubman Gill was named as the vice-captain by the BCCI, as the board wanted to send a message to Suryakumar Yadav to step up.
But Suryakumar Yadav hasn't been able to improve his T20I batting form. In the ongoing Asia Cup, he has looked miserable, and his poor form continued in the Asia Cup final.
While chasing the target, Suryakumar Yadav got out in the third over itself. On the third ball of the over, he hit a slower ball from Shaheen Afridi towards Salman Agha, who pulled a stunning dive to take the catch despite fumbling it multiple times.
It looked like the ball had hit the ground before bouncing into his hands, but after seeing a couple of replays, the third umpire was convinced it was a fair catch. Fans were furious at Suryakumar Yadav for falling for one, but at the same time, they slammed the umpire for a controversial decision.
Overall, in 8 innings against Pakistan in T20I cricket, Suryakumar Yadav has scored 112 runs in 8 innings at an average of 16 and a strike rate of 113.13.

Aakash Chopra opens up on Suryakumar Yadav's no rivalry comment
Speaking on ESPNCricinfo ahead of the India vs Pakistan match, the former India opener Aakash Chopra talked about Suryakumar Yadav's comments, where he said that there is no rivalry between India and Pakistan as the Men In Blue are just too dominant for the Men In Green. Chopra elaborated:
"True, you don't (see such comments). But I mean, we are living in a very different world now, a slightly modern world with people perhaps a bit more vocal and people who are also reacting a lot more as well as compared to what happened in the past. So Surya was asked a question, like Varun is saying, of course, he stated a fact.
"People in the past may have been more diplomatic about it and would skirt the issue and just go away somewhere else and not really address the question. But Surya chose to address. I mean, these are the times that we are living in and it's absolutely okay. And yes, it will fuel the fire, something that Varun also mentioned and Shaheen also mentioned that we don't care.
"I mean, let's see if we reach the finals. That was before the game against Bangladesh. If we reach the finals, we'll see who's better and what kind of rivalry we're talking about. So from that standpoint, the stakes are really high. One thing that I'm 100% certain of is that gestures will not be there anymore. They've been both teams have been called up by the ICC match referees and all that. So those things won't be there. Yes, they will be at each other in their each other's faces. But gestures is something that we will not see in the finals."
