Things are not working out at all for Rishabh Pant in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025. Lucknow Super Giants signed up the wicketkeeper-batsman for a staggering amount of INR 27 crore and made him the costliest player in the history of the IPL but he has not been able to justify his huge price tag so far.

Rishabh Pant has not only failed to impress as a captain but has looked out of sorts as a batsman too. He started his campaign in IPL 2025 with a duck against his former team Delhi Capitals. It was followed by a 15-run knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

In the third game of the season, Rishabh Pant was out for just 2 runs against Punjab Kings. He had the chance to turn things around on Friday (April 5) when he came out to bat against Mumbai Indians at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.

Asked to bat first, LSG were off to a terrific start before losing two huge wickets in quick succession. Mitchell Marsh smashed 60 runs from just 31 balls and shared a 76-run stand with Aiden Markram for the first wicket before being dismissed.

In-form Nicholas Pooran got the start but could not convert it into a big score and departed for 12 runs. Pooran's departure saw LSG getting reduced to 91/2 from 76/0.

Rishabh Pant flops again:

The onus was on Rishabh Pant to steady the ship after the dismissals of Marsh and Pooran. However, he failed to deliver with the bat again and departed after scoring only 2 runs from 6 balls.

While Corbin Bosch took a sharp catch, Pant's shot was not impressive either. On the fourth ball of the 11th over, MI captain Hardik Pandya bowled a slower off-cutter and Pant tried to work it on the leg side.

However, the LSG captain was outfoxed by the slower delivery as he was early into the shot and ended up getting a leading edge towards the off side. The ball was landing in the no man's land before Bosch came charging in from mid-off and took a brilliant diving catch.

As soon as Bosch caught the ball, the cameras turned towards the stands where LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka had an interesting reaction. Known for his expressive nature, Goenka was seen sporting a smile as Pant flopped once again.

Watch:

Meanwhile, LSG were on 171/4 in the 18th over at the time of writing this report. Markram and David Miller were batting in the middle for the home side.
