Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson, on Wednesday (April 16), retired hurt against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
The incident took place in the sixth over of the Rajasthan Royals innings when he was facing leg-spinner Vipraj Nigam.
Samson was going all guns blazing
On the third ball of the over, the Delhi Capitals spinner bowled a quicker googly that was well outside the off stump.
Sanju tried to slash but could not make any contact with the ball. In the process, he ended up hurting himself.
Soon after missing the shot, Sanju Samson looked in pain and was seen stretching his left arm as he seemingly suffered an injury on his side.

Samson tried carrying on but failed
The physio came running onto the field to attend to the right-handed batsman. Sanju Samson was seen having a tablet before practicing his bat swing to ensure that he was fine to continue. To Rajasthan Royals' relief, their captain decided to continue, but the happiness was short-lived.
He hit the next ball of the over towards long off but decided against taking a single. He looked in pain again and decided to walk off the field.

Rajasthan Royals will be desperately hoping that the injury is not serious and their captain remains available for the upcoming games. Sanju Samson also played the first three games of the ongoing season only as a batsman because of an injury.
Before retiring hurt, the right-hander looked in fine touch. He smashed 31 runs off just 19 balls with the help of two fours and three sixes. Rajasthan Royals were on 61/0 when their captain walked off the field.
At the time of writing this report, they were on 88/1 in the tenth over with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Rana batting in the middle. After Samson's departure, the Royals also lost the wicket of Riyan Parag. Parag was clean bowled by Axar Patel for 8 runs. Earlier in the game, Delhi Capitals finished their innings on 188/5.
