Shakib Al Hasan, on Thursday (June 13), roared back to form with a crucial match-winning fifty against Netherlands in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

The former Bangladesh skipper was having a poor campaign in the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup before he redeemed himself with a brilliant knock against the Netherlands. He had scored 8 against Sri Lanka and 3 against South Africa while also failing to pick up any wicket.

On Friday, Bangladesh desperately needed their star allrounder to deliver with the bat in the must-win clash after being reduced to 23 for 2 inside the powerplay and Shakib Al Hasan did not disappoint. He scored an unbeaten 64 with the help of 9 fours to take his team to a challenging total of 159 for 5 in the allotted 20 overs.

In reply, the Netherlands finished their innings on 134 for 8 to lose the game by 25 runs. Rishad Hossain starred with the ball for the Bangla Tigers, taking 3 wickets for 33 runs while Taskin Ahmed claimed two wickets.

Meanwhile, Shakib Al Hasan caught the attention not only with his batting but also his behavior during the game. In recent times, the allrounder has landed in trouble on several occasions for failing to control his temper on the cricket field and he was at it again on Friday.

The Bangladesh veteran was seen arguing with the on-field umpire over a wide call. On the fourth ball of the 16th over, Netherlands allrounder Logan van Beek bowled a bouncer to Mahmudullah and the on-field umpires adjudged it a legal delivery.

However, Shakib Al Hasan, who was standing at the non-striker's end, was convinced that the ball passed over Mahmudullah's head and should have been called a wide. He was seen expressing his disappointment to the umpire over the decision and looked animated.
