Watch- Shakib Al Hasan playing for India vs Bangladesh; drops a dolly of Rishabh Pant leaving Taskin Ahmed disappointed
Veteran Bangladesh allrounder Shakib al Hasan committed a huge mistake during the first Test between India and Bangladesh at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Shakib al Hasan was positioned at deep-backward square leg just for Rishabh Pant who was playing aggressively despite a poor start by India.
Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed bowled a short-of-a-length ball on Pant's body. Pant did not try to keep the ball down but played a half-hearted shot towards deep square leg. Shakib al Hasan was stationed back and seeing the ball drop early, he ran diagonally to his right.
But the allrounder could not get to the ball in time and it bounced just in front of him despite the effort. It wasn't an easy catch by any means Shakib Al Hasan was a tad late to start as he misjudged the ball slightly.

After the drop, Taskin Ahmed had his hands on his face as he was close to getting the big wicket of Rishabh Pant, who was looking in magnificent touch. Shakib al Hasan too was disappointed and rued on the great opportunity to dismiss the India wicketkeeper.
Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant came in ahead of KL Rahul at No. 5 and showed aggressive intent which put the bowlers on the back foot. He and Jaiswal took the full toll of the bad balls on offer and ticked the scoreboard with their attacking batting display.
Pant looked in great touch and looked to attack the bowlers as he normally does. His dropped catch by Shakib could have proved to be extremely costly but he was dismissed for 39 off 52 balls straight after lunch by Hasan Mahmud. The wicket would have brought relief to Shakib Al Hasan who had dropped him earlier.
Hasan Mahmud rocks India early
Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field first under helpful seam bowling conditions on a pitch assisting the fast bowlers at the start. The bowlers were right on the money and got enough movement to trouble India's top order.
Hasan Mahmud struck with the big wicket of India's captain Rohit Sharma when he was caught in the second slip for 6 runs. Shubman Gill soon followed as he was caught down the leg side by the wicketkeeper Litton Das for a duck.
Even Virat Kohli could not stay at the crease for long and he became Hasan Mahmud's third wicket of the morning. Kohli was dismissed for just 6 as India slipped to 34-3 in 9.2 overs. Kohli's wicket brought joy to Bangladesh's camp and stunned the crowd.
Hasan Mahmud had a dream spell as he picked up the first 4 wickets of India and broke the back of India's batting order.
His new-ball partner Taskin Ahmed also bowled well and supported him well. India hopes their middle and lower order will rally around Yashasvi Jaiswal and take them to a decent first innings score.
