Allrounder Shakib Al Hasan had a disappointing outing in his final Test innings as he was dismissed for a second-ball duck. Shakib came in to bat as the last recognized batter in Bangladesh's batting line-up at No. 7.
However, his stay was short-lived as he could not contribute to the team's runs. Ravindra Jadeja bowled a flighted ball outside off and found some turn. The ball seemed to stop a bit before coming onto the bat.
Shakib was beaten and was forced to check his shot at the last moment. But he could only chip the ball right back to the bowler Jadeja who reacted swiftly to complete a good catch off his bowling. Jadeja, who is known as an excellent fielder, was never going to drop such catches.

Shakib Al Hasan was clearly dejected after his dismissal and could not believe what he had done. It was possisbly his last Test innings and Bangladesh needed their best ever cricketer to stay at the crease for a long time.
Unfortunately, it was not to be and he had to depart. Shakib has not had a great Test match with the bat as he was dismissed for just 9 runs in the first innings. With the ball, however, he picked up four wickets and finished with 4-78.
Shakib Al Hasan announced his retirement
Meanwhile, Shakib Al Hasan had already announced his retirement plans in Test cricket before the start of the second Test at Kanpur. The allrounder had stated that the Test series against South Africa at home would be his last Test assignment.
However, South Africa has not yet confirmed their travel to Bangladesh due to the security concerns in the country. It is also not clear whether Shakib will travel to his home country given the murder allegations against him and his connection with the Awami League party which was ousted from power some days earlier.
Shakib was a Member of Parliament of the Awami League government led by the former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. However, the government fell and Sheikh Hasina had to flee the country to save her life. Since then, there have been brutal attacks on the party members and sympathizers in the country.
Only available for ODIs
Shakib Al Hasan also stated that the T20 World Cup 2024 was his last assignment in T20Is and he won't be available for any T20I match now onwards. This means the legendary allrounder will only be available to play ODI cricket.
