Mumbai all-rounder Shams Mulani has been continuing his golden form with the ball in the ongoing quarter-final of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 against Haryana. The match between the two teams is taking place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

After an impressive effort with the bat, Shams Mulani has made sure that he provides his team with a crucial breakthrough. The spinner came up with the peach of a delivery to remove Haryana batter Himanshu Rana, who had no answers to it.

Mulani bowled a delivery that was pitched at the leg stump, and the batter, Himanshu Rana, covered the line of the ball. But after pitching, the ball spun out sharply and beat the batter's defense to hit the off-stump and send the batter packing for just three runs.

Mulani has been decent with the ball for Mumbai in the ongoing game. He has bowled tight lines and lengths and is posing a real threat to the Haryana batters. Skipper Ajinkya Rahane would be hoping that the spinner runs through the opposition's batting lineup and ends their innings early.

Shams Mulani slams a solid half-century

Mulani has been one of the main reasons why Mumbai are in the prime position in the match. Opting to bat, they came under massive pressure and were left reeling at 113/7. It seemed that they would get out early but Mulani came up with the magical effort with the bat.

Mulani slammed a solid half-century and ended with an inning of 91 runs. He, along with Tanush Kotian (97), added 165 runs together and brought Mumbai back into the game. Thanks to their brilliant partnership, Ajinkya Rahane-led side posted a total of 315 runs.

While talking about his partnership with Tanush Kotian, Shams Mulani said that they were looking to take the total past 200 runs. He talked about his bond with the all-rounder, saying that they have very good communication between them.

He also talked about his batting, adding that he doesn't like to change his approach, stressing that he likes to play according to the situation. Speaking after the Day 1, he said:

“We were looking to stretch the total past 200 when we were six down. Tanush and I have a good understanding; we communicate well, so there were no issues. I don’t like changing my approach; I try to stick to whatever works for me.

"I do small tweaks and adjustments after looking at the wicket, otherwise I haven’t made any changes. If the ball is in my range, I’ll hit, or else I’ll try to absorb the pressure. I think that’s what I do well."
