Watch: Shardul Thakur bowls five consecutive wides in 11-ball over to frustrate Rishabh Pant

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Shardul Thakur showcased his 'Lordship' during the 21st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Tuesday, April 8.

Shardul Thakur bowled five consecutive wides in an over, but in the same over, he also picked up a huge wicket of the Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Ajinkya Rahane at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Shardul Thakur bowls 11-ball over against KKR

Thakur was asked to bowl the 13th over of the innings by his skipper Rishabh Pant when the KKR batters were going all guns blazing. The pacer looked in all sorts of pressure as he started the over with five consecutive wides.

He released the ball again and again outside the off-stump as his five attempts of wide yorkers missed the mark, each sailing past Ajinkya Rahane.

This didn't sit well with the LSG captain, Rishabh Pant, who was left quite frustrated seeing Thakur's awful show with the ball. Shardul Thakur, however, ensured that he calmed down the anger of his skipper by dismissing the KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane (61 off 35) on the last ball with a full toss.

Notably, Thakur bowled 11 balls in the over to equal the record for the longest over in IPL history. Also, he equaled the record for most wides bowled in an over in IPL.

Feel like I've been like a hedgehog adapting in it's environment - Shardul Thakur's teammate

Speaking ahead of the match, the LSG star batter David Miller said that he has enjoyed his time with the new franchise in IPL. He said:

"It's actually been really good. It's my 4th franchise now and picking up different things from each team. Feel like I've been like a hedgehog adapting in it's environment."

David Miller further said that his role with the bat hasn't changed at LSG. He explained:

"Wouldn't say it's changed. No. There are times that you have to change and adapt to the certain kinds of roles but for me batting at 5-6 feels like it's pretty much set in stone and I know what I need to do for the team so it's just about sticking to that and making sure that I give myself the best chance to perform and to get the team over the line."

David Miller further emphasized on the importance of adapting to the conditions quickly to play good cricket. He said:

"Conditions are massive. You got to adapt as a player as quick as possible. Fortunately we've played a lot of cricket. Got a team that's played in many different conditions and it's just about making sure on the day that you adapt and make the right decisions according to those conditions. You need the experience to work out what's the best strategy for that particular day. Great conditions out here in Kolkata and always a great ground to play in."
