The India National Cricket Team has lost another wicket in Shivam Dube in the second semi-final of the Asian Games 2026 against Sri Lanka at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin. However, it was the way Dube was dismissed that grabbed all the attention, thanks to Sahan Arachchige.
The Indian all-rounder was dismissed for just 3 runs off 9 balls as the Sri Lankan captain Sahan Arachchige produced a stunning catch at cover that left everyone shocked. Amid this, Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson flopped badly in the Asian Games semifinal.
Sahan Arachchige stuns India with one-handed blinder to dismiss Shivam Dube
The dismissal came in the 19th over of India’s innings when Tharindu Ratnayake bowled a tossed-up delivery outside off stump. Shivam Dube saw an opportunity and hit a powerful drive towards the cover region. It looked like the shot had enough power to beat the fielder.
But Arachchige produced a moment of pure brilliance. The Sri Lankan reacted instantly, as he threw himself to his left and stretched out his left hand.
The ball was travelling at a serious pace, but somehow it stuck in his hand. Even after hitting the ground, Arachchige made sure the ball did not pop out.
It was an extraordinary one-handed catch that left Dube, Ratnayake, and everyone watching stunned. Dube could hardly believe what had happened, with India losing their seventh wicket at 151/7 in 18.5 overs.
He had tried to hit the ball hard, but Arachchige turned the shot into a spectacular wicket, and even he looked surprised by what had just happened.

Ishan Kishan smashes highest T20I score as India post 169/7 against Sri Lanka
Meanwhile, the India National Cricket Team ended up with a competitive score of 169/7 against Sri Lanka in the semi-final of the Asian Games 2026. The Nisshin pitch was not an easy one to bat on as it offered uneven bounce, cracks on the surface and a lot of turn.
Sri Lanka used the conditions well and bowled 17 overs of spin, but India still managed to put up a fighting score. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi played a quick knock of 38 off 21 balls, while Ishan Kishan finished unbeaten on 80 off 46 balls and played a key role in taking the team to the competitive total. Amid this, Gautam Gambhir breaks silence on India-Pakistan World Cup hype.
He took some risks and got lucky on a few occasions. India badly needed one batter to stay till the final ball, and Kishan did exactly that. His calm finish gave India valuable runs on a difficult pitch. Sri Lankan captain Sahan Arachchige and Lasith Croospulle were particularly impressive, while the pitch offered plenty of help to the slow bowlers.
However, India has a strong bowling attack of their own, which is more than enough to defend the total. Kishan also created a special record with his knock. His 80 is now the highest individual T20I score by an Indian batter coming in at No. 5 or lower*.
