Shreyas Iyer and Sam Curran got involved in a heated argument during the second ODI between the India National Cricket Team and the England National Cricket Team in Cardiff on Thursday, July 16.

The incident happened during India's innings when Curran tried to throw the ball towards Iyer after the play. The move did not go down well with the Indian batter, and the situation turned intense in no time at the Sophia Gardens. Amid this, Virat Kohli create history surpasses Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar in 2nd ODI vs England.

Shreyas Iyer and Sam Curran involved in heated clash during 2nd IND vs ENG ODI

Both Shreyas Iyer and Sam Curran exchanged angry words in the middle of the ground, with the Indian batter looking visibly upset. He immediately responded to Curran, and their fiery verbal fight continued for a few moments as the tension between the two players raised.

However, the confrontation did not go beyond a verbal exchange, but the heated moment added extra drama to the high-pressure ODI clash between India and England in Cardiff. The fiery face-off between Iyer and Curran in Cardiff has now gone viral on social media.

After failing to deliver in the first ODI, Shreyas Iyer has taken the charge and already smacked a stunning fifty to take India over 200 runs. After Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, and Shubman Gill failed to deliver, Virat Kohli and Iyer joined hands and stitched a 60+ partnership to bring India out of the trouble in the second ODI against England in Cardiff.

Indian batting crumbles in stunning collapse

Meanwhile, England fast bowler Jofra Archer completely changed the game with a sensational spell at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff. Bowling with great pace and accuracy, Archer struck on back-to-back deliveries to put India under huge pressure.

First, Axar Patel tried to play an upper-cut shot against a short ball but only managed a thin edge, and the wicketkeeper completed an easy catch. On the very next ball, Shivam Dube hit the ball straight back to Archer, who completed a simple return catch to send him back without any mistake.

India's innings quickly fell apart after losing a series of wickets in a short time. The visitors crashed from 178/3 to 193/7, with several batters throwing away their wickets by playing risky shots. Following the major collapse, England took complete control of the match.

India return to Sophia Gardens after 12 years

On the other hand, India returned to play an ODI at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff for the first time since 2014. Out of the Indian team that played in Cardiff 12 years ago, only Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are part of the current squad.

Speaking about England, Joe Root has been in outstanding form in ODI cricket. Since January 2025, Root has scored runs at an impressive average of 70.69. In his last 19 ODI innings, he has smashed four centuries and seven half-centuries, making him one of England's most reliable batters. Amid this, Gautam Gambhir prefers younger core over Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma for 2027 World Cup.

Since the 2023 ODI World Cup, India's bowling attack has also been among the best in world cricket, and they have had the second-best strike rate in ODIs at 29.9. This means they have taken wickets regularly.
