IND vs SL: Watch - Shreyas Iyer Misses Out On Century In Second Innings, Falls To Lasith Embuldeniya

Indian middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer once again fell after scoring a composed fifty, this time in the second innings of the Bengaluru Test against Sri Lanka at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Iyer looked on course to register his second century, much like the first innings. He was playing the spinners well on a surface that has been tricky right from Day 1 and barely made an error.
Unfortunately, his innings came to an abrupt end, falling to the Sri Lankan spinner, Lasith Embuldeniya. The left-arm spinner dished out an arm ball which kept coming in with the angle and Iyer played it far too outside the line.

He got rapped on the back leg and the umpire had no hesitation in raising the finger. Iyer reluctantly opted for the review, only to prove the umpire right and see three reds on the big screen.
Meanwhile, India put on 303/9 on the board before declaring, thanks to Iyer and Rishabh Pant’s batting performances. The latter also scored the fastest fifty in Test history by an Indian, reaching the milestone in just 28 balls.

There were useful contributions from Rohit Sharma (46), Hanuma Vihari (35), and Ravindra Jadeja (22), and the home team was able to push the target close to 450. The target of 447 is quite steep and the Lankan batters are also low on confidence, having been unable to go past the 200-run mark in the three innings they have played in this series.
