Team India vice-captain Shubman Gill's century came to an end after Adil Rashid's googly crashed into his stumps in the ongoing third and final ODI. The opening batter scored 112 runs off 102 deliveries to set up a strong platform at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, February 12.

England won the toss and chose to bowl first. Tom Banton replaced Jamie Overton in the playing XI. India brought in Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, and Arshdeep Singh, who replaced Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammad Shami, and Varun Chakravarthy. Jadeja and Shami were rested for the ongoing match.

Shubman Gill Reaches His 7th Century in ODI Cricket in Ahmedabad

Mark Wood struck early for England, dismissing India captain Rohit Sharma for just one in the second over. After the setback, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill steadied the innings, overcoming a challenging period. They guided India to 52 after 10 overs and added a 116-run partnership for the second wicket.

Gill went on to complete his seventh ODI hundred off 95 balls, reaching the milestone with a boundary off Mark Wood. However, the opening batter couldn't add many more runs after his century, as Adil Rashid, the veteran spinner, bowled a googly that rattled Gill's stumps in the 35th over of India's innings.

Gill attempted a big sweep shot against Rashid’s googly, which was delivered on a full length and turned sharply. The ball crashed into middle and leg stumps as the young batter went through with the shot. Despite reading the googly, the length of the delivery was too full for him to execute the sweep effectively.
