India National Cricket Team skipper Shubman Gill has become the prime target of the England National Cricket Team as well as English fans amid the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.
During the fourth Test of the five-match Test series between India and England, Shubman Gill was welcomed with heavy boos by the crowd at Old Trafford in Manchester.

Shubman Gill targeted by England players and fans
Gill's antics in the Lord's Test haven't gone down well with a section of English fans and the entire team. His outburst at Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett's time-wasting tactics has made him the No.1 villain in England.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Shubman Gill justified his verbal assault on English openers, stating that the batters were 90 seconds late to come to the crease and that was "not something that comes in the spirit of the game.”
England took note of Gill's jibe at the press conference and made sure to give him a hostile reception as he arrived in the middle to bat at Old Trafford in Manchester.
Shubman Gill walked out to bat in the 41st over after Liam Dawson dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal. As he was warming up while walking towards the crease, the English crowd booed him heavily.
That didn't affect the India skipper as he played a couple of crisp shots to shut down the crowd. However, he wasn't able to play a big innings as England captain Ben Stokes dismissed him for 23-ball 12 in the 50th over.
On the first ball of the over, Ben Stokes bowled a stunning delivery from the angle that nipped back in and bit Gill on the pad as he offered no shot.
Rod Tucker took some time before raising the finger, and Ben Stokes let out a lion's roar on Gill's face as the decision went in his favor. Shubman Gill then decided to burn DRS before walking back.

I've really enjoyed him as a captain - Dinesh Karthik
Speaking on Sky Sports, the former India wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik lauded Shubman Gill and said that he is improving as a leader and has been top-notch in media interactions. He elaborated:
"I've really enjoyed him as a captain so far, on the field I think he's improving, but off the field is where I've been most impressed. I think yesterday's press conference was absolutely box office in terms of, apparently it just went quiet till the last question was asked about why things have gotten a bit spicy and he said, look, England went 90 seconds late and we don't appreciate that. And I like it, it's good to be feisty.
"You need to have an identity as a captain and Shubman Gill from that third day at Lord's has actually shown that he's got a lot more aggression inside him and that's how he wants to lead this Indian team.
"Yes, the result didn't go his way, but the point is it's made for a thrilling test series so far and his captaincy is right at the forefront of it, backed by his batting skills as well."
