Watch- Shubman Gill disappoints yet again as Ben Foakes takes a good catch and James Anderson draws his first blood
The second Test of the five-match series between India and England is going on at Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium and India has lost two wickets with 89 runs on the board and Shubman Gill again departed after failing to convert a good start. This time, it was veteran James Anderson who took Gill’s wicket with a terrific out-swinging delivery catching the edge of Gill’s bat and Ben Foakes completed a stunning catch diving to his right.
Shubman Gill departed after scoring 34 off 46 deliveries. He was struggling against Anderson and found a couple of lucky edges that went for four but eventually lost his wicket again and his poor show in Test cricket continues as his wait for a fifty-plus score escalates to 11 innings. He has not been at his best since he was shifted to No.3 in Test cricket. Shubman Gill has played 11 innings at No.3 in Tests and has failed to score a single fifty-plus score at an average nearing 22 and a personal best of just 47.
Ben Foakes took a stunning catch to dismiss Shubman Gill who departed after scoring 34 off 46 balls smashing five boundaries in his innings. James Anderson picked his 691st wicket in Test cricket by dismissing Gill on a perfectly delivered outswinger which got the outside edge and was safely collected by Ben Foakes behind the wickets diving to his right.
At Lunch, India is currently 103/2 with Yashasvi Jaiswal unbeaten on 51 off 92 deliveries and Shreyas Iyer just joined the party with a four and he is currently on 4 off 7 balls. Debutant Shoaib Bashir got his maiden Test wicket in the form of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma who was caught at leg slip by Ollie Pope after scoring just 14 runs off 41 balls.
Watch- Ben Foakes Takes A Blinder To Dismiss Shubman Gill In The Second Test

Shubman Gill has been dismissed five times by the legendary James Anderson. Anderson has always troubled Shubman Gill with his swing and we saw the youngster struggling today against the veteran as he found a couple of lucky edges before being dismissed against the 41-year-old. James Anderson has taken 691 wickets as of now in Test cricket and is only nine wickets away from being the first-ever pace bowler to take 700 Test wickets in history.
India has already lost the first Test by 28 runs in Hyderabad and is now looking to win the second Test in Vizag to level the series and then carry on with the momentum to win the series against England. England also won the first Test in Chennai when they toured in 2021 but then India won consecutive three games to seal the series 3-1.
The hosts have never lost a home Test series since 2012 when they were last defeated by England 2-1 led by Sir Alastair Cook. India has won 16 consecutive Test series at home since 2012 and they are looking to maintain their streak by defeating England in the series again. Currently, they are in a good position even after losing two big wickets in the form of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill.
