Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill failed to lead his team from the front in the ongoing IPL 2025 Eliminator against Mumbai Indians at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, New Chandigarh.

Set a target of 229 runs, Gujarat Titans needed their talismanic skipper to lead the charge with the bat.

However, the right-handed batsman could not get going as he was dismissed by Trent Boult for just 1 run in the very first over of the innings.

It was a trademark Boult delivery that swung in at the last moment to outfox Shubman Gill. The ball was on the middle and leg stump and the Titans skipper ended up playing across the line.

As a result, he could not make any contact with the ball and was hit on the pads. He was given out LBW and even though he reviewed the decision, it did not change his fortunes.

As if the early dismissal was not enough, Shubman Gill also received a send-off from his former teammate and Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya. The India allrounder was charged up after the wicket and was seen celebrating the wicket on Gill's face with a huge roar.

Both of them were also involved in an awkward moment during the toss. Pandya wanted to shake hands with Gill but was completely ignored by the Titans skipper.

He was batting on 76 runs off 42 balls while his partner Washington Sundar was unbeaten on 31.

Earlier in the game, Mumbai Indians finished their innings on 228/5. Veteran opener Rohit Sharma starred with the bat for the five-time champions, scoring 81 runs off 50 balls.
