Team India captain Shubman Gill and pacer Mohammed Siraj were seen in a heated discussion with the on-field umpire regarding the condition of the replacement ball. The Indian captain engaged in an animated exchange with the umpire, expressing his concerns about the replacement ball’s condition.
Dukes balls have been known for assisting bowlers in red-ball cricket. However, in recent years, concerns have grown over them losing shape faster than expected. Pitches in England offer less movement and bounce. The conditions are more favorable for batters, leaving bowlers struggling to take wickets.

During the 91st over of England’s innings, the Indian team raised concerns about the condition of the ball, despite it being only around 10 overs old. The umpires checked its shape and agreed to replace it after it failed the hoop test.
However, Shubman Gill was unhappy with the replacement ball as well. Gill expressed his frustration, and Mohammed Siraj questioned the condition of the new ball. The umpire ultimately dismissed Gill’s protests, leading to an animated moment on the field.

Jasprit Bumrah Bags Three Quick Wickets to Put India on Top on Day 2
After electing to bat first in the third Test at Lord’s, England ended Day 1 on 251/4, with Joe Root (99) and Ben Stokes (39) at the crease. Root reached his 37th Test hundred off the first ball of Day 2. He moved into fifth place on the all-time list for most Test centuries.
India bowled well in the morning session, with Jasprit Bumrah dismissing Stokes for 44 in just the third over. Mohammed Siraj nearly added another scalp in the next over, but KL Rahul dropped Jamie Smith in the slips.
Bumrah then clean bowled Root for 104 – his 11th dismissal of Root in Tests. He also removed Chris Woakes for a golden duck. England collapsed from 260/4 to 271/7 before Brydon Carse and Jamie Smith added more than 40 runs.
