Team India captain Shubman Gill made a cheeky remark during the final day of the first Test match against England in the ongoing series. The right-handed batter's comments about pacers Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj, which were caught on the stump mic, grabbed the attention of fans on social media.

England began the final day at 21 without loss. Openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley negotiated testing spells from Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, who found movement off the surface. The pair stitched together a steady opening stand, adding over 75 runs for the first wicket in the final innings.

On the final day of the Test match, Shubman Gill used Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna's names in a clever wordplay, drawing a light-hearted comparison to religious figures from Islam and Hinduism.

He expressed confidence that with both bowlers operating from either end, they would be capable of creating havoc for the opposition. However, the two pacers failed to provide the breakthrough for the team, despite England’s openers adding quick runs.

"Bhai ek taraf se Mohammad hain, ek taraf se Krishna. Dono tabahi macha denge. (On one side, there's Mohammad; on the other, there's Krishna. Together they're going to wreak havoc)," Gill said.

What Is England’s Highest Successful Chase in Tests at Headingley?

India are ten wickets away from securing a win in the opening Test, while England require 371 runs on the final day to complete the chase. The home side may draw inspiration from their chase of 378 against India at Edgbaston in 2022, which they achieved with ease under Ben Stokes.

However, history suggests that such targets are rarely achieved at Headingley. Totals of 300 or more have only been successfully chased four times out of 20, with an equal number of matches ending in draws. The highest successful chase at the venue remains Australia’s 404 against England in 1948.

England have managed to chase 300-plus totals twice at Headingley, both against Australia. They chased down 359 in 2019 and 315 in 2001, which gives hope that a similar feat might still be possible on the final day.

England replied with 465, just six runs short of India's total. Ollie Pope scored 106 runs, while Harry Brook was dismissed for 99, and Ben Duckett added 62. Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers for India, taking a five-wicket haul. Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj took three and two wickets respectively.
